Check this out (open with IE and enable popups) it is pretty cool. The guy has made a strikingly similar UI to the one found in Windows 2000, without using flash/java/activex, as his webpage. Pretty impressive.
The booting process although looks like Linux.

The interface is pretty neat i wonder what bill gates thinks about that;)
If you noticed at the top right of the page, there is a logo of Microsoft MVP (most valuable professional) and some other awards. Pretty sure that he has been recognised well enough :)
